Role Overview: We're looking for a Senior Buyer to join our team, playing a crucial role in optimising our procurement processes. This position is central to ensuring cost, quality, and timely delivery performance across our supply chain. You will achieve this by proactively managing assigned suppliers and product categories, and identifying and executing new saving opportunities through project optimisation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all commercial relationships with global suppliers within your assigned commodity, ensuring targeted levels of cost, quality, delivery precision, and sustainability
  • Develop and implement strategies for your product and vendor portfolio, driving effective sourcing projects
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiate cost-efficient agreements, focusing on total cost of ownership. This includes overseeing the development and maintenance of vendor agreements.
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, R&D, Quality, Sales, and Category Managers, to identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Drive key improvement projects such as best country sourcing, supplier rationalisation, lead time reduction, stock optimisation, payment terms improvement, and quality enhancement (in conjunction with the SQE team)
  • Act as the procurement lead for new product development projects, overseeing coordination and sourcing
  • Build strong relationships with Category Managers and Sales representatives to effectively drive change within the product portfolio

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise with 7+ years of experience across engineering, manufacturing, and procurement environments
  • Proven track record of 5 years in strategic procurement, specifically within Category or Commodity Management roles in an international organisation
  • Deep understanding and insight into purchasing environments for managed commodities, ideally gained from experience in the automotive, complex industrial, or electronics industries
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience in cost analysis and breakdown methodologies

 

Competencies:

  • Advanced analytical and strategic thinking, supported by an excellent command of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to manage strategic supplier relationships, encompassing relationship building, performance management, development, and integration
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, active listening, and negotiation
  • A clear understanding of the importance of both customer service and effective internal stakeholder management
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as required by business needs
  • Proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus
