Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and technical Power BI Developer to join our data team. In this role, you will be a critical "business translator," responsible for transforming raw data from our Azure data platform into clear, actionable intelligence. Your primary focus will be on the end-to-end development of BI solutions—from querying the data warehouse to building robust data models and insightful reports. We are looking for a hands-on builder who is as comfortable in T-SQL as they are in DAX, and who can independently deliver solutions that drive decision-making for our internal customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Advanced Report & Model Development: Design, build, and optimize scalable Power BI data models (datasets) and the insightful, user-friendly reports that sit on top of them.
· DAX & Data Transformation: Write complex and efficient DAX calculations and perform advanced data transformations in Power Query (M) to ensure data quality and accuracy.
· Performance Optimization: Own the performance of your BI solutions. Identify and resolve complex bottlenecks by optimizing DAX calculations, data model design, and source T-SQL queries.
· Business Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements, understand their core business questions, and translate them into technical specifications.
· Team Mentorship: Act as a technical "go-to" person for the BI team. Mentor junior PBI developers through technical guidance and sharing best practices.
· Governance & Quality: Take ownership of the data models you build, ensuring data integrity, security (RLS), and adherence to development standards.
Requirements
· Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
· Experience: 4+ years of progressive, hands-on experience as a Power BI Developer or BI Developer.
· Critical T-SQL Expertise: Demonstrable, advanced skill in T-SQL. You must be able to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SELECT statements with multiple joins and window functions.
· Core BI Skills: Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop, including deep knowledge of DAX and Power Query (M).
· Data Modeling: Deep expertise in dimensional data modeling and a proven track record of building "robust data models" that are performant and scalable.
· Platform Knowledge: Experience with the Azure data stack (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database).
· Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proven ability to solve complex data problems.
Advantageous (Nice to Have):
