Role Overview
The Head of Engineering Support Center (ESC) provides visionary leadership to a technical support organisation, ensuring the delivery of world-class engineering solutions and services to IMI HE subsidiaries and customers globally. The role is responsible for transforming the ESC into a commercially driven, customer-centric entity that is fully aligned with Sales and capable of supporting complex, value-added projects as well as transactional services. Leadership will be critical in driving organizational change, fostering innovation, and ensuring the ESC is a key enabler of business growth and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transformation of the ESC by reviewing the project support organisation as needed to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
- Build and nurture a culture of continuous improvement, commercial focus, and customer orientation.
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Sales to understand their needs and ensure ESC services directly support business objectives.
- Reorganize project support services to deliver both transactional (digitised) and value-added solutions (e.g. complex buildings, customer-facing).
- Drive change management initiatives to ensure the ESC adapts to evolving business needs and market dynamics.
- Champion a culture of learning, standardisation, process improvement (including tools and documentation) to drive quality and consistency. Empower team members to suggest and implement enhancements.
- Take over selected activities of the sales process, building seamless links between Engineering Support and Sales.
- Ensure the ESC entity in Hungary is positioned to support customers effectively and is fully informed about evolving business needs.
- Oversee the delivery of tailored HVAC solutions, ensuring technical excellence, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
- Influence cross-functional teams and senior leaders to align ESC initiatives with broader business strategies.
- Act as a senior technical and commercial contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Foster high engagement, collaboration, and support professional growth within the team.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of engineers and technical specialists. Promote knowledge sharing and technical upskilling.
- Stay abreast of HVAC market trends, product innovations, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and R&D to provide feedback and drive product enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
- Min. 8 years of proven experience in building and leading sales technical support functions in a related industry.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify business opportunities, drive profitability, and align technical support activities with broader commercial objectives.
- Significant managerial experience in an international company environment.
- Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, especially hydronic balancing, pressure maintenance, and control.
- Experience with technical support for complex building projects and customer-facing solutions.
- Familiarity with HVAC design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, simulation software, etc.).
